Postgraduate Diploma Molecular Genetics
Introduction :
Molecular Genetics plays, via, DNA sequencing and recombinant technologies, a pivotal role in understanding the biology of diseases and contributes significantly to diagnosis, treatment and prevention from diseases. Being so important and useful, a higher Diploma Molecular Genetics will be a mark starting point for candidates involved in medical genetics and related biosciences.
Objectives :
- Provide trained staff in molecular techniques for diagnosis and control of diseases
- Equip graduates with scientific competencies for investigation of molecular mechanisms involved in structure and function of living cells
- Provide specialists in Molecular Biology to:
- Perform multidisciplinary research involving: Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Medicine, Pharmacy etc…
- Handle managerial arising problems in Molecular Biology researches
- Participate in international research networks and programmes in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Expected Learning Outcomes :
Upon completion of Molecular Genetics Higher Diploma Programme, successful candidates will:
- Acquire sound knowledge concepts and principles of Genetics.
- Be able to describe principles and protocols of various techniques in Genetics.
- Apply Bioinformatics in diagnosis and control of diseases.
Admission Requirements :
- Applicants must satisfy the Regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the General Regulations of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research of the National University-Sudan for registration for Higher Diplomas.
- Eligible domains are: Science, Biochemistry, Physics, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratories Sciences, Dentistry, Information Technology, Animal Sciences, Ecology, Radiology Sciences, Health Informatics, and Computer Sciences.
- Eligible Candidates are holders of:
- B.Sc. (General) with grade Good at least.
- B.Sc. (General) Third Class with grade Pass in addition to a qualifying of 12 credit hours.
